It is the characteristic of a Garmin Nuvi device that it plays a voice when you start navigation through it. All the routes and directions are played through the speakers. This is possible due to the sound files of different locations saved in the memory card. Due to some reason, if you are not being able to hear a single sound from Garmin Nuvi, then no need to search around. Your search is over. We will discuss different reasons that contribute to this problem along with their solutions.
st step: Change the volume level and turn on Garmin Nuvi after this. You can change the volume from the ‘Where to’ option given on the home screen. Raise the level of volume by using slider button.
nd step: Open the volume menu from the home screen of the app and check the mute option. If it is enabled, then disable it and check if the problem has been resolved or not. Most of the time, this will fix the ‘Sound’ issue from Garmin Nuvi.
rd step: Check the voice output, if it is faulty you will get the problem in listening to it. For checking the voice, go to the ‘Tools’ option from the ‘Nuvi app’. You will find this under ‘Settings’ page. Go to ‘Language’ and select the one according to your choice. After selecting the language, go back to the home screen and enter the ‘Address’ in the ‘Where to’ option and check if the problem is resolved or not.
th step: Update Garmin Nuvi through updater. This updater can be downloaded from the Garmin page. Go to ‘Web updater’ link from the computer and transfer the content to Nuvi through USB cable. Select ‘Nuvi’ and it will automatically fetch the updates and start downloading them.
th step: Restart Garmin Nuvi: When you restart the Nuvi, all the settings will auto-set to default. To reboot the device, turn it off and remove the power cable from it. Press ‘Reset’ button from the home screen of app. Turn on the device after 10 seconds and check for pop-up message if appeared any. Click ‘Proceed’ to acknowledge the message displayed in the pop-up window. This will factory reset the device. Now, the previous data stored in the device will set to default. You have to add it from scratch. Check if the sound problem is now resolved or not. If it is still not solved then it means there is issue with the hardware.
