Do you use a Garmin Forerunner while running? Well, you are just like the millions of others who do the same. Even I do it because Garmin gives me precise data about my running, measures my heart rate and various other things. However, all the features that were meant to provide convenience to you can suddenly stop working and cause a great deal of inconvenience instead. If the heart rate monitor of your Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS has stopped working, then you should go through this entire tutorial to find a solution to the problem.
If the heart rate monitor on your Garmin Forerunner has stopped working properly, then check as to how it all happened. If you found that it started with rhythm beats started to space followed by going complete unsynchronized, then there is definitely a problem with your Garmin. It will not detect the heartbeat. You can use detect your friends’ heart rate just to be sure if there is a problem with the device.
The Garmin does not detect the heart rate monitor
The first thing that you can do in such a situation is changing the battery, as it would solve the majority of problems. However, if you have already done that and nothing happened to your device, then, don’t be disappointed, as there are a number of other things that you can do.
- Change the heart rate monitor battery (it is normal for it to run out, even if you just bought it)
- Wet the heart rate monitor band
- Restart the scan from the Accessories / Heart Rate Monitor menu
- Press and hold the Lap and Start/stop button simultaneously for 10 seconds
- And without all this nothing at all: Turn the heart rate monitor battery, keep it upside down for 10 seconds and put it well again.
This last technique that looks like a joke, what it really does is reset the heart rate monitor ID and assign it a new identifier. With this, the heart rate monitor works again at the next scan. For me, it was like Carmen water. Be careful that the battery, being upside down, must be removed with a dry blow.
The Garmin GPS does not detect satellites
The solution used to start the clock to detect the satellites was to simultaneously press the down arrow and the power button. It is highly recommended to do this in the open sky and leave it still for at least 20 minutes. This will reset the satellite information and should allow the device to connect quickly the next time.
This is how you can fix two of the most common occurring in Garmin Forerunner 305, i.e., heart rate monitor not working and Garmin GPS not detecting satellites. In case, you are still experiencing the same problem, then you should get in touch with the Garmin GPS tech support facility for better assistance.
